Does The Nama J2 Survive in Today's Juicer Market?

Juicers have become essential tools for those wanting to incorporate more fruits and vegetables into their lives. With numerous brands and models flooding the market, deciding which juicer is worth the investment can be difficult. One model that has generated a lot of attention is the Nama J2 Juicer which is a popular juicer manufactured by Hurom, who have been experts in manufacturing juicers since 1974. Nama has taken an OEM product originally known as the Hurom H320N and has called this the Nama J2 safe in the knowledge that the product comes from a very reputable and high-quality factory. Today we will explore how the Nama J2 Juicer holds up against some of the top-performing juicers currently on the market, the Hurom H400, Kuvings REVO830, and Sana 878.

The Competition

Hurom H400 vs. Nama J2: The Hurom H400 is renowned for its advanced technology, like its innovative self-feeding feature and easy-to-clean slow juicing mechanism that minimises oxidation and preserves both the natural taste and nutritional value of your juice. It's also hard not to notice that the H400’s compact, stylish form factor looks phenomenal in any kitchen.

While the Nama J2 exhibits similar nutrient retention, the Hurom H400's sleek operation and easier cleaning process give it the edge. Hurom’s easy-clean juicing screen mechanism makes it quick, convenient and simple to clean up any mess, making juicing an enjoyable addition to your daily routine, without the need to get bogged down by the hassle of post-juicing cleanup. The H400’s premium build quality and elegant aesthetics make it a guaranteed centrepiece in any kitchen, which some might find more appealing than the Nama J2’s straightforward, almost lacklustre design.

Kuvings REVO830 vs. Nama J2: The Kuvings REVO830 is known for its versatility and efficiency, offering multiple attachments for juicing, with which you can make delicious nut milk, nut butter, and even frozen desserts. This versatility makes it a powerful multi-functional juicer, whereas the Nama J2 focuses mainly on juicing.

The Kuvings REVO830's powerful motor and durable build are engineered to handle tough ingredients, allowing you to juice your favourite fruits and vegetables for many years to come. Although the Nama J2 is very simple and minimalistic; preferred by some, the Kuvings REVO830’s extra features present significant advantages for those looking to get more out of their juicer and investment, especially since the Kuvings REVO830 costs less.

Sana 878 vs. Nama J2: The Sana 878 uses the same mechanism and is essentially the same juicer as the Nama J2 which is the primary reason for including it in today’s comparison. The Sana 878 displays the same juicing performance as the Nama J2 in a more stylish body and also follows Sana’s typical luxury approach to accessories.

Included with the 878 is a stainless steel pulp collection container and a vacuum juice jug and pump. These added accessories are a premium addition that the Nama J2 sadly lacks. Lastly, the Sana 878 is cheaper than the Nama J2, meaning you get identical performance, superior premium accessories and an overall more stylish design for less.

Nama J2 Pros

Durable and High-Quality: While the fact that Hurom manufactures Nama’s juicers can be negative, which we will discuss later, having Hurom manufacture their juicers also means that Nama’s juicers are built to the same high-quality finish as Hurom’s juicers.
Large Community: Moving away from the actual juicer, Nama has a substantial fan base, meaning you will have access to an endless amount of support, recipes and a community you can interact with to help you with your juicing journey.
Warranty: The Nama J2 comes with an impressive warranty of 15 years, this is for both the parts and the motor. So, if anything does break on the juicer you have plenty of time to get a replacement.

Nama J2 Cons

While the Nama J2 Juicer has many strengths, it is not without any drawbacks:

Price: The Nama J2 is positioned in the mid-to-high price range, the same as the other mentioned juicers. However, it’s important to note that it lacks the additional features of the Hurom H400 or any of the premium accessories included with the Sana 878. So if you want to get maximum bang for your buck, another juicer might be the better option.
Juicing Technology: While Nama’s juicing mechanism isn't awful, it's still relatively old compared to most of the juicers it’s up against. The self-feeding feature is great, and is one of, if not the main reason the Nama J2 is so popular. However, more and more juicers being released include this feature and even more on top of it, causing the Nama J2 features and “wow-factor” to slowly fall behind.
Future Manufacturing: While the Nama J2 is built by Hurom, following Hurom's typical high-quality approach, it limits how innovative they can be. Nama juicers are essentially previous models of Hurom juicers that Nama has made some aesthetic changes to, meaning they are totally reliant on what juicers Hurom manufactures. Using Hurom as their manufacturer also means Nama will always be behind the curve since Hurom are able to release new and more innovative juicers in Hurom’s own brand first before allowing them to be used by OEM companies.
Cleaning Time: Although the Nama J2 is designed to be easy to clean, it requires a bit more effort than some other models on the market due to its screen-style juicing mechanism. Users must disassemble and thoroughly wash several components, a noticeably time-consuming task. We have found that most people prefer easier-to-use juicers since they save a lot of time in the cleaning and juicing process, making people more likely to incorporate the juicer into their day-to-day life since it's not much of a hassle to clean therefore feeling the benefits of juicing quicker. Newer models are starting to be released with a dual augur design which does away with the juicing screen (the hardest part to clean on screen-based mechanism juicers) and instead allows you to clean the dual augur by simply rinsing it under water, lowering the amount of juicing parts and the amount of time spent cleaning.

Conclusion

While the Nama J2 Juicer is a solid option with good juicing performance, popular features, and a simple, sturdy build, it struggles to stand out in today’s competitive market.

Compared to the Hurom H400, REVO830, Sana 878, and other newer juicers, the Nama J2 falls short in several key areas. The Hurom H400 offers superior design, quieter operation, and easier cleaning, making it a more attractive choice for those seeking a premium juicing experience. The REVO830's versatility and powerful motor provide more functionality and durability, catering to users who want more than just a basic juicer. The Sana 878's stylish design and additional premium accessories enhance usability and convenience, making it appealing for users who value style, bang for buck and good juicing performance.

Given these comparisons, the Nama J2, despite its strengths, doesn’t quite measure up to the competition. Its time-consuming cleaning process, older juice mechanism, and lacklustre design are significant drawbacks in a market where convenience and ease of use are paramount. Therefore, while the Nama J2 may be a competent juicer, it struggles to survive against more advanced, versatile models readily available today.
