Hurom H400 VS The Nama J2

Hurom, the brand that manufactures all of the Hurom brand of juicers and the Nama juicers including the Nama J2 and the Nama Vitality 5800 are often closely compared, however, the Nama J2 is not the first self-feeding juicer to enter this industry, nor will it be the last, meaning it may not be the best. Let's see how the Nama J2 compares to the newest Hurom, the Hurom H400. Is it all hype and clever marketing or is the Nama J2 really the best juicer to buy?

What Is The Hurom H400?

The Hurom H400 is the newest addition to the Hurom range. These new and exciting features have been designed to optimize your juicing experience and produce top-quality juices at home, whilst all being completely hands-free.

The Hurom H400 is also self-feeding, meaning the chamber will auto-juice your whole produce. This leaves you more time to go about your day instead of standing next to your juicer for 10-20 minutes feeding it ingredients until your juice or batches are completed.

The Hurom H400 has a scrub-free design, so cleaning after a juicing session will be no more hassle than filling the chamber up for juicing in the first place. You can simply run the parts under water and watch the pulp and fruit juice come straight off the juicer parts: The included brush in the Hurom H400 is provided for particularly difficult produce but also provides extra security when cleaning.

Its auger-based juicing mechanism improves the quality of your juices, with significantly less pulp in your juice and maximises yield to ensure you get the most out of your produce and have the driest of pulps.

What Is The Nama J2?

In case you are unaware of the Nama J2, or new to the juicing world in general. The Nama J2 is a hands-free cold press juicer. Meaning you can load up the chamber on the top of the unit and your produce will be juiced automatically.

Growing popularity most likely comes from its hands-free feature and minimal prep due to the juicer being able to juice large or whole pieces of produce independently.

BPA- free plastics and easy-to-use design may be another reason why the Nama J2 is so broadly well-spoken about, though these features and benefits are not revolutionising nor brand new technology in the juicing industry. This makes you wonder, why is the Nama J2 so popular.

Verdict: Is The Nama J2 The Better Option?

If you’re looking for the short answer, that answer will be no, in our opinion the Nama J2 juicer is not superior compared to the Hurom H400 juicer. The Hurom H400 offers many more benefits and features for the exact same price as the Nama J2.

Its slick but sturdy design outshines the Nama J2’s design and is more aesthetically pleasing to the eyes, especially if you want to display your juicer in your kitchen. It has been designed to fit together perfectly, giving it a contemporary feel and overall look, compared to the Nama J2 which is bulkier looking and its components seem to be more fragile.

The auger-based mechanism of the Hurom H400 has even smaller slits, allowing less pulp to go into the juice, leaving you with the smoothest of juices with almost any produce. Whereas, the Nama J2 has seemed to have solely focused on the hands-free feature of their juicer, neglecting the auger slightly. By this we mean that a standard mesh auger has been used in the Nama J2, so leafy greens will quickly clog up the mesh impact your juicing experience and may affect future juices if not cleaned to perfection.

After juicing, we discovered that the Hurom H400 can be cleaned much faster due to its scrub-free design, however, for the Nama J2, you will need to use the brush included and scrub everything to avoid leftover pulp clogging up the juicer.

Finally, the Hurom H400 has a much more extended warranty for the functional parts of the juicers with a warranty of five years. However, the J2 only has a two-year warranty on its functional parts. This is particularly alarming when most defective parts only start to break around the 2-3 year mark of use. These concerning factors only make you think about why the Nama J2 is so far behind its closely compared peers within the juicing game.

Overall, the Hurom H400 is better thought out and has so many more advantages compared to the J2, in our opinion. If you have your heart set on the Nama J2, then do not let us stop you from purchasing. However, for the same price, why not have all the added benefits and a wider colour selection?
