The Kuvings B1700 offers a streamlined package that aims to make wide-feed juicing technology more accessible for everyone. As with all Kuvings juicers, the key to this model is the 76 mm wide feed chute, which makes juicing easier with minimal ingredient preparation. Yet by taking away some flair elements, the B1700 becomes a more affordable option, that can still keep pace when it comes to juicing.
As with all their juicers, Kuvings has equipped the B1700 with their infamous wide-feed juicing technology. This technology allows for larger chunks of produce fed into the juicer, reducing the time commitment required for both preparing and feeding ingredients. The result is a faster process that takes out many of the more mundane parts of the juicing process.
The feed chute included with the B1700 has a wide diameter of 76 mm, giving it great flexibility with different ingredients. Unfortunately, it doesn’t make use of the flip-top we’ve seen in other Kuvings models, but, in terms of practicality, this does make feeding ingredients easier and a bit quicker.
To facilitate wide-feed juicing, Kuvings use a specialist set of parts that can crush large chunks of ingredients and handle higher levels of pressure. However, to extract high juice yields, these parts need to be paired with a steady operation speed of 60 RPM. This amount of RPM is ideal for the B1700, as it provides enough power to press large ingredients while still extracting plenty of nutritious juice.
Beyond its juicing ability, the Kuvings B1700 is compatible with a selection of optional accessories that widen its functions. Particularly noteworthy is the accessory pack that includes a coarse screen and a blank screen. The coarse screen is ideal for juicing soft produce and can be used to make a thicker, pulpier juice. The blank screen, on the other hand, turns the B1700 into a food processor allowing for the production of foods such as sorbet and nut butter.
On top of its optional accessories, the B1700 also benefits from a useful cleaning brush designed specifically for the juicing screen. When in use, this brush shaves minutes off the cleaning process, as in just a few twists it frees a majority of the clogged pulp residue.
Finally, moving onto its construction, the B1700 has been built to the high standards required of a modern juicer. The functional parts are all durable and hard-wearing, but above all else, they are also BPA free. Therefore, there are no concerns about chemicals leaching during juice extraction. Additionally, while it lacks the style of many juicers, the base of the B1700 is practical and compact, keeping wasted space to a minimum.
It was the user video that inspired me to go for this one over the more expensive version. The presenter in the video is right, there are only perhaps two features missing in comparison to the expensive one and, you are not missing out at all. In fact, you are saving quite a bit of money. The price for this juicer was also the lowest I found online. Other places are still selling it at the full price of £299, and on this site it was £269 at the time of purchase including delivery. I have only marked it down one star because it feels like there are a lot of parts to clean once done. In comparison with some other juicers which have say 3-4 parts to maintain. The brush is great for cleaning the strainer however, it can take a few goes depending on what you used it for. I was really impressed with the juicers ability to take leafy greens. I threw in some kale and spinach, it did an excellent job on those with only one minor pulpy bit. However, that bit was just clumped together and easily broke down. The juicer parts are not dishwasher safe but do come out clean with a cold water rinse so in that respect it is easy to maintain. I love that it is quieter than some other models and it also has a reverse button. As there is a secure flip tap to release juice, the juicing ability is infinite. The long feed pipe means vegetables such as whole carrots can be added. I tried it and it worked. The carrot broke down without too much fuss. However, for mechanical sympathy, I would recommend cutting the carrot down so it is no more than four or five inches. Juice capacity wise it net about the same amount as the Champion juicer we had that gave up the ghost. The juice was vivid in colour and tasted flavourful. The waste pulp was fairly dry whereas, with the Champion we would have to put the pulp through a number of times before it came out near dry. I really like this juicer and I am glad it comes with a long warranty as well. Thank you.
